Apply for License
Under Sections 22 to 24 of the Real Estate Agency Act, 2020 (Act 1047), every individual or firm offering real estate agency services in Ghana must be licensed by the Real Estate Agency Council (REAC).
This process ensures that all professionals operate with integrity, competence, and accountability — upholding the highest standards in Ghana’s real estate market.
Registration Requirements for Brokerage Firms
- Certificate of Incorporation / Business Registration
- Copy of Designated Broker’s valid REAC license
- Firm Profile and Organizational Chart
- Firm’s Tax Clearance Certificate
- One (1) passport-size photograph of the Designated Broker
- Evidence of payment of GHS 2,850
Registration Requirements for Brokers and Agents
- Completed Registration Form with two passport-size photographs
- Copy of professional certificate from either:
- General Legal Council (for Lawyers)
- Ghana Institution of Surveyors (GhIS) (for Surveyors)
- GRA Tax Clearance Certificate
- Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- Payment receipt of GHS 2,850 (Brokers) or GHS 1,350 (Agents)
Exemptions
In accordance with Section 24(2)(b) of Act 1047, graduates with a BSc in Real Estate or holders of recognized international real estate qualifications may be exempted from the qualifying examination, subject to REAC approval and evidence of credentials.
Important Notes
- Incomplete or falsified applications will not be processed (per Section 29 of Act 1047).
- All payments must be made through official REAC-approved channels.
- Applicants will be notified of their license status within the statutory review period.
All applications should be submitted to the Licensing & Compliance Department of the Real Estate Agency Council. Applicants are encouraged to retain a copy of their documents for personal records.
