Obtain Transaction Certificate
In accordance with Section 29 of the Real Estate Agency Act, 2020 (Act 1047), all real estate transactions — including the sale, lease, or rental of property —
must be accompanied by a Transaction Certificate issued by the Real Estate Agency Council (REAC).
The Transaction Certificate serves as an official confirmation that the transaction has been conducted through a licensed broker, agent, or firm, and complies with the standards and ethical
requirements set forth under Act 1047. It is a key regulatory safeguard that promotes transparency, consumer protection, and accountability in Ghana’s real estate market.
Before finalizing any property sale or lease, both the agent and client must ensure that a Transaction Certificate has been duly obtained and registered with REAC.
This document helps prevent fraud, money laundering, and unregulated transactions in the sector.
To obtain a Transaction Certificate:
➤ Ensure both parties to the transaction (buyer/tenant and seller/landlord) are properly identified.
➤ Confirm that the agent or broker involved holds a valid REAC license.
➤ Submit details of the transaction to REAC through the approved online form.
➤ Pay the applicable processing fee as determined by REAC.
➤ Receive your electronically generated certificate with a unique verification number.
Every issued Transaction Certificate is verifiable through REAC’s Public Registry and Search Portal using its certificate number — ensuring
transparency and trust across every real estate transaction in Ghana.
